1. what soap liniment is and what it is used for
The active ingredient in this product is camphor.
Soap Liniment is for the treatment of symptoms of sprains and bruises.
2. what you need to know before you use soap liniment
Do NOT use:
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to camphor or any of the other ingredients listed in Section 6
- near the eyes or other sensitive body areas
- on broken, irritated or inflamed skin.
Take special care when using this product:
- Do not apply excessive amounts of solution or use for a prolonged period.
- This product is flammable – keep it away from naked flames.
Other medicines and Soap Liniment
There are no known interactions with other medicines. If you are unsure ask your doctor or pharmacist before using this product.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
Soap Liniment should not be used during pregnancy or breast-feeding except on the advice of your doctor.
3. how to use soap liniment
For external use only
Adults and children over 12 years of age:
- Massage the liniment onto the affected area 2 to 3 times daily.
This medicine is not intended for children under 2 years of age and should only be used in children 212 years if advised by a doctor.
If symptoms persist talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
If anyone accidentally swallows some see a doctor straight away. Take the product with you so that it can be identified.
4. possible side effects
Like all medicines, Soap liniment can cause side effects although not everybody gets them.
Tell a doctor straight away if you get any of the following:
- Hypersensitivity or allergic reactions such as skin rash, swelling of face, lips or throat, difficulty breathing.
- Sudden collapse in infants following application of camphor to their nostrils.

If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet. You can also report side effects directly via the Yellow Card Scheme at. By reporting side effects you can help provide more information on the safety of this medicine.
5. how to store soap liniment
- Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
- Store in a well closed container in a cool place.
- The product is flammable. Keep it away from naked flames.
- Do not use after the expiry date on the carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
6. contents of the pack and 0ther information
What Soap Liniment contains:
The active ingredient is camphor 4% w/v.
The other ingredients are oleic acid, potassium hydroxide, rosemary oil, industrial methylated spirit, purified water.
What Soap Liniment looks like and contents of the pack:
Soap liniment is a clear pale yellow solution.
It is available as dispensing packs of 500 ml and 2 litre white polythene bottles. Not all packs may be marketed.
