1. What is Resolve® and what is it used for
Resolve® contains:
- paracetamol which is a pain reliever (analgesic) and helps reduce your temperature when you have a fever
- citric acid, sodium bicarbonate, sodium and potassium bicarbonate provide the effervescence (fizzing) and have an antacid action in the stomach. - ascorbic acid (vitamin C) is included to help replace the Vitamin C which may be lost particularly when you have too much to drink.
These sachets are used for the relief of headache with upset stomach and acid stomach particularly when you have too much to eat or drink.
2. What you need to know before you take Resolve®
Do not take Resolve® if you:
- are allergic to paracetamol, citric acid, sodium bicarbonate, potassium bicarbonate or any of the other ingredients (listed in section 6)
- suffer from kidney or liver problems, including alcoholic liver disease - are on a low potassium or sodium (salt) diet
Warnings and Precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Resolve® if you:
are pregnant or breast feeding
- suffer with phenylketonuria, a rare inherited metabolic disorder - are taking any other medication, including those available without prescription - if you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars
During treatment with Resolve®, tell your doctor straight away if:
If you have severe illnesses, including severe renal impairment or sepsis (when bacteria and their toxins circulate in the blood leading to organ damage), or you suffer from malnutrition, chronic alcoholism or if you are also taking flucloxacillin (an antibiotic). A serious condition called metabolic acidosis (a blood and fluid abnormality) has been reported in patients in these situations when paracetamol is used at regular doses for a prolonged period or when paracetamol is taken together with flucloxacillin. Symptoms of metabolic acidosis may include: serious breathing difficulties with deep rapid breathing, drowsiness, feeling sick (nausea) and being sick (vomiting).
Resolve® contains paracetamol. Do not take anything else containing paracetamol while taking this medicine.
Other medicines and Resolve®
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.
This product may affect or be affected by some other medicines. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking
- medicines to treat high cholesterol levels which reduce the amount of fat in the blood such as cholestyramine
- medicines to control feeling sick or being sick such as metoclopramide or domperidone
medicines called anti-coagulants which are used to thin the blood such as warfarin or other coumarins – you may need to take occasional doses of paracetamol but should consult your doctor if you need to take it on a regular basis - flucloxacillin (antibiotic), due to a serious risk of blood and fluid abnormality
(called metabolic acidosis) that must have urgent treatment (see section 2).
Resolve® and alcohol
Do not drink alcohol while taking this product.
Information about some of the ingredients in this medicine:
This medicine contains 290 mg of Sodium (main component of cooking/table salt) in each sachet. This is equivalent to 12% of the recommended maximum daily dietary intake of sodium for an adult.
This medicine contains 278 mg of Potassium in each sachet. To be taken into consideration by patients with a reduced kidney function or patients on a controlled potassium diet.
3. How to take Resolve®
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
The recommended dose is:
Adults, the elderly and children aged 16 years and over: Dissolve the contents of one sachet in a (150 – 200ml) glass of water and drink before the fizzing stops. Take 1 sachet every 4 hours. Do not take more than 4 sachets in any 24-hour period.
Do not give to children under 16 years.
Do not take more medicine that the label tells you to. If you do not get better, talk to your doctor.
If you take more Resolve® than you should
Talk to your doctor at once if you take too much of this medicine even if you feel well. This is because too much paracetamol can cause delayed, serious liver damage. Go to your nearest hospital casualty department. Take your medicine and this leaflet with you.
4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
Most people do not have any side effects while taking this medicine. However, if you experience any of the unwanted following side-effects, or anything else unusual happens, stop taking the medicine immediately, and see your doctor or pharmacist.
If the following side effects occur, stop taking this medicine and tell your doctor immediately or go to the nearest emergency room at your nearest hospital:
- allergic reactions such as swelling of the face, lips and tongue, difficulty breathing and a skin rash.
Other side effects
- you may become more prone to bleeding, bruising, fever and infections, such as sore throat and ulcers, due to changes in your blood.
- frequency not known: A serious condition that can make blood more acidic (called metabolic acidosis), in patients with severe illness using paracetamol (see section 2).
Very rare cases of serious skin reactions have been reported.

If you have any side-effects, talk to your doctor, or pharmacist. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet. By reporting the side effects, you can help provide more information on the safety of this medicine.
5. How to store Resolve®
Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton
6. Contents of the pack and other information
What Resolve® contains
Each 8.09g sachet of granules contains the active ingredients: paracetamol 1000mg, anhydrous citric acid 1185mg, sodium bicarbonate 808mg, potassium bicarbonate 715mg, anhydrous sodium carbonate 153mg and ascorbic acid 30mg.
The other ingredients are: sucrose, povidone 30, anhydrous glucose, polyethylene glycol 6000, lemon flavour, saccharin sodium, sodium cyclamate, quinolone yellow (E104).
What Resolve® looks like and the contents of the pack
Resolve® is an effervescent medicine available in a pack size of 10 sachets.
