Macrogol Compound is a laxative used for the treatment of long term constipation. It is not recommended for children below 12 years of age. Macrogol Compound contains macrogol 3350, sodium chloride, sodium hydrogen carbonate and potassium chloride. Macrogol 3350 makes your faeces softer and easier to pass, giving you relief from constipation. The electrolytes (salts) help to maintain your body's normal levels of sodium, potassium and water while you are being treated for constipation.

2. what you need to know before you take macrogol compound

If you experience sudden abdominal pain or rectal bleeding when taking Macrogol Compound for bowel preparation, contact your doctor or seek medical advice immediately.

Avoid mixing Macrogol Compound (PEG laxative) and starch-based food thickeners if you have difficulties with swallowing. This may result in a watery liquid which could get into your lungs and cause pneumonia if you can't swallow properly.
