The active ingredients in this product are menthol and eucalyptus oil which are decongestants and help ease breathing difficulties.

Menthol and Eucalyptus Inhalation is used for the relief of coughs, colds and blocked noses.

Do NOT use:

  • if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to the active ingredients or any of the other ingredients listed in Section 6
  • in children under 3 months of age.

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

3. how to use menthol and eucalyptus inhalation

For inhalation use only

Adults, including the elderly, and children (3 months and older):

  • Shake the bottle well before use. Use within 6 months of opening.
  • Not to be taken by mouth.
  • Add one 5ml spoonful to a pint of hot but not boiling water.
  • Inhale the vapour.
  • The dose may be repeated every four hours if required.

Not suitable for use in children under 3 months of age unless instructed by a doctor.

If symptoms persist talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

If anyone accidentally swallows some see a doctor straight away. Take the product with you so that it can be identified.

Like all medicines, Menthol and Eucalyptus Inhalation can cause side effects although not everybody gets them.

Tell a doctor straight away if you or your child get any of the following:

  • Breathing difficulties or collapse in a child
  • Hypersensitivity or allergic reactions such as skin rash, swelling of the face, lips or throat, difficulty breathing.
  • Inflammation of the skin with rash or irritation (contact dermatitis)

  • Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
  • Do not store above 25°C.
  • Do not use after the expiry date. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.

What Menthol and Eucalyptus Inhalation contains:

The active ingredients are menthol 2% w/v and eucalyptus oil 10.0% v/v.

The other ingredients are light magnesium carbonate and potable water.

Menthol and Eucalyptus Inhalation is a white suspension.

It is available in amber glass bottles as a dispensing pack of 500 ml and a patient pack of 100ml. Not all packs may be marketed.
