A traditional herbal medicinal product used for the relief of symptoms associated with a dry, irritating cough, based on traditional use only.

2. what you need to know before you take em pharma marshmallow cough syrup

Do not take this Syrup

  • if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to the active substance or any of the ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6)
  • If you are under 12 years of age
  • If you are pregnant or breast feeding
  • If you are taking a medicine affected by alcohol e.g. metronidazole
  • half to an hour before or after taking any other medicines.

  • if you suffer from diabetes
  • If you have intolerance to some sugars

  • you feel worse, or do not feel better after 7 days
  • you have difficulty breathing, fever (high temperature), blood or mucus in your phlegm.

EM Pharma Marshmallow Cough Syrup and other medicines

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines. This medicine may delay the absorption of some medicinal products.

Do not take this medicine half to an hour before or after taking any other medicines.

Driving and using machines

This products contains alcohol (see information under the heading ‘Important information about some of the ingredients in this medicine’ for alcohol content.) If affected do dot drive or use machines.

Important information about some of the ingredients in this medicine

  • Each 10 ml dose contains 8.4 g of sucrose.

This should be taken into account in patients with diabetes mellitus.

  • If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicinal product.
  • This medicinal product contains no more than 1.26 %v/v ethanol (alcohol), i.e. up to 131 mg per 10 ml dose, equivalent to 2.772 ml beer, or 1.155 ml wine Z per 10 ml dose. o>

Harmful for those suffering from alcoholism. To be taken into account in pregnant or breast-feeding women, children and high-risk groups such as patients with liver disease, or epilepsy.

  • Each 10 ml dose contains 13.1 mg of benzoic acid (E210).

The syrup should be administered using the measuring cup provided in the carton. The measuring cup provided is marked with a scale from 2.5 ml to 15 ml.

Dosage

For oral use only.

Using the measuring cup provided take 10 mls every 4 to 6 hours a day. Repeat the dose depending on the symptoms up to a maximum 4 times daily.

If required, up to a maximum of 4 doses (40 mls) can be taken per day. Do not use for more than 7 days. Do not take more than the leaflet tells you to.

Children under 12 years of age

This medicine is not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age and medical advice should be sought.

If you or a child takes more than the recommended dose, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Take this leaflet with you.

If you forget to take EM Pharma Marshmallow Cough Syrup

Just take the next dose when it is due. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

Do not use after the expiry date on the carton or label.

The expiry date refers to the last day of the month. Discard the syrup 28 days after first opening the bottle.

Do not store above 25°C.

Keep the bottle in the outer carton in order to protect from light.

Return any unused medicine to your pharmacist for safe disposal.
