1. What Antipeol is and what it is used for

Antipeol is a soothing ointment used for the relief of minor skin problems.

Antipeol contains:

  • zinc oxide – soothes and protects the skin
  • ichthammol and salicylic acid – stop the growth of bacteria on the skin

How to apply the product

  • 1. Wash the affected area with soap and water.

  • 2. Dry the area with a clean towel.

  • 3. Apply the ointment on and around the affected area.

  • 4. Wash your hands very well afterwards.

Do not use Antipeol if:

  • you are allergic (hypersensitive) to any of the ingredients of Antipeol (listed in Section 6).

Warnings and precautions

Do not smoke or go near naked flames – risk of severe burns. Fabric (clothing, bedding, dressings etc) that has been in contact with this product burns more easily and is a serious fire hazard. Washing clothing and bedding may reduce product build-up but not totally remove it.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using any medicine, if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.

Important information about some of the ingredients of Antipeol

Antipeol contains lanolin (wool fat). If you are allergic to lanolin, do not use Antipeol.

If this medicine is from your doctor or pharmacist, do exactly as they have told you. Otherwise, follow the instructions below. If you do not understand the instructions, or you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

  • This medicine is for your skin only.
  • Do not get this medicine in your eyes.
  • Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
  • Do not use Antipeol after the expiry date which is stated on the carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
  • Store in the original container in a cool place.
  • Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.

What Antipeol contains

  • The active substances are zinc oxide 20% w/w, ichthammol (1 in 3 dilution) 2.8% w/w and salicylic acid 0.1% w/w.
  • The other ingredients are liquid paraffin, yellow soft paraffin, wool fat, lavender oil and urea.
